FEATURE FEMME GEM: MODEL STELLA

Stella has been on our roster for a few years now. She is known for her laugh, sense of humour and her loud Italian ways. We interviewed our gorgeous girl recently to give you the inside scoop on one of our favourite models!

1. What’s your name?
Stella

2. What five words best describe you?
honest, goofy, stubborn, energetic, determined

3. What are you studying in school?
I just graduated from York University this past April with my BA Honors in Sociology.

4. When and how did you get into modelling?
I’ve had a passion for modelling for as long as I can remember. I was able to do a few photo-shoots in high school, but couldn’t take my modeling to the level I wanted to because I had to complete high school and graduate from university before I could pursue modelling seriously. Now that I’ve completed my education, I’m proud to say that I have been modelling professionally for about three years.

5. What do you love most about Femme Fatale?
I’ve been a promotional model for a few years now, and I have to say that the girls from Femme Fatale are the most down to earth group of girls in the industry. I have built such great relationships with most of them and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. We motivate each other rather than compete with each other and each person is able to bring their best self to work at each event which only raises the level of professionalism higher.

6. If you had any advice for a girl who wanted to become part of Femme Fatale what would you tell them?
Just be yourself. Do not try to be something you are not. Each Femme Fatale girl offers and brings something different to the table, that’s why we all get along. Balancing confidence and humility, hard work with a sense of humor is also really important.

7. What 3 characteristics do you think it takes to become a Femme Gem?
Personality, loyalty and elegance

8. If you had to sum up Femme Fatale in 1 word? What would it be?
Classy.

9. You’ve worked quite a few events with us, which has been your favourite thus far?
My favourite one that comes to mind is working for NIKE at an NHL event. They dressed us up in NIKE gear from head to toe and we had to escort NHL players and help them decide on gear. What girl wouldn’t love that?

10. Were there any models growing up who inspired you? Why?
I grew up watching Americas Next Top Model. Looking back now I don’t think I missed one episode. Growing up Tyra was frequently criticized for her looks. As a child Tyra was very tall and thin. She claimed that she even looked awkward. By junior year in high school Tyra decided to become a model but it wasn’t until her freshmen year in college that she was signed to an agency. From there on she was in the public eye especially, becoming the first black sports illustrated cover model. In 2007 the tabloids mocked her for her weight gain, but rather than crumble, Tyra responded to the negativity with confidence telling People’s magazine that she “still feels hot” and later she tells the critics on her talk show “Kiss my fat a–!”. After that issue Tyra launched her “So What” campaign that promotes a positive body images and to combat the restrictive images of beauty all women are forced to adhere to. I admired Tyra Banks because of her hard work ethic and her confidence in the face of critics and her unwillingness to back down in the face of negativity, three principles that we all need to go through to fight through challenges we may face.

11. What is one thing that can always make you laugh?
People who take themselves too seriously. I have a huge sense of humour, and I truly believe that if you cannot laugh at yourself then who can you laugh at? I have a very goofy, dorky and outgoing personality, and most people are caught off guard when they get a glimpse of this side of me, but I love it. I love making people laugh, there’s nothing more rewarding for me than that!

If I could change one thing about myself I would change…nothing, as women we are always being encouraged to change to meet someone else’s expectations. I love myself the way I am and only strive to be the best version of myself I can be.Confidence is sexy.

My favourite part about myself is… my smile because even when I’m scared or sad, it lets the world know I am strong and can find happiness and learn lessons from any situation, even the most difficult.

My favorite restaurant is… I could never choose. I love food and all types of food. For me it’s whatever type of food I’m in the mood for. As long as the food is well prepared, I’ll eat it

The first thing I notice about a guy is… his shoes! I automatically look right at a guy’s feet to see what shoes he’s wearing and then make my way up to see how put together his outfit is. Shoes are KEY for me! Guys who don’t dress appropriately aren’t going anywhere…

Lastly, where do you see yourself in five years? Walking the runway at Victoria Secret!
